New Chair of Happy City Board Elected

JEN CROWE ELECTED AS NEW CHAIR OF HAPPY CITY ST. JOHN’S

St. John’s, NL, November 4, 2019: Happy City St. John’s, a non-profit organization that informs, encourages, and facilitates civic dialogue in St. John’s, is pleased to announce that Jen Crowe has been elected as the new chair of the Board of Directors.

The election of the 2019-20 executive occurred at the October 30 meeting of the board, following the 2019 Annual General Meeting on October 10. Ms. Crowe succeeds Rob Nolan, who served as the chair of Happy City for 2017-2019. Mr. Nolan will continue to serve on the Board of Directors in the role of past chair. 

Ms. Crowe previously held the role of vice-chair on the executive. During her two years on the Board, Jen co-founded Happy City Radio, led a review of the Board’s by-laws, and most recently facilitated a series of neighbourhood forums on newcomer engagement. Jen works in student leadership development at Memorial University, and has a Masters in Public Administration in Local Government from Western University, along with a B.A. in Political Science (Hons.), and a Certification in Public Policy from Memorial University. Jen recently received national recognition for her non-profit work and was named to the Future of Good’s list of 21 Youth Reshaping Governance.

Through events, town halls, consultations, and summits, Happy City has been facilitating that work in St. John’s for 8 years, and I am looking forward to working with the talented and energized Happy City Board to foster inclusive spaces and opportunities to involve more people in this process of continued dialogue.”

Founded in 2010, Happy City St. John’s is a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to improve civic dialogue in the city of St. John’s.
