Neighbourhood Summit 2018

The inaugural St. John’s Neighbourhood Summit is scheduled for 9-5 Saturday, September 22. Presented by Happy City St. John’s, in partnership with The Harris Centre, the Summit is a day-long event focused on building neighbourhood capacity in the City of St. John’s, and will include sessions ranging from how to build and maintain a neighbourhood association to placemaking to bike network design to how to connect with your city councillors.

Registration for this event can be found at https://tinyurl.com/NeighbourhoodSummit.

The official program for the event can be viewed  here.

The concept of a Neighbourhood Summit came from Happy City’s work in the community and a growing need for greater capacity at the neighbourhood level. While some neighbourhoods have established neighbourhood organizations, many have organic and less traditional community-level organizations via social media or have no established neighbourhood organization.

The Summit will be held at Memorial University’s new Signal Hill Campus, and participants will have the opportunity to take part in panel discussions, expert presentations, and interactive design sessions. Lunch and nutrition breaks will be provided. There is a suggested donation of $25 with registration to help pay for food and other related costs.
