Project Description
Happy City St. John’s will be hiring a Website Coordinator – Major Events, who will be primarily responsible for the development of the St. John’s Votes website (a website dedicated to the 2025 Municipal Election), as well as assisting with developing the Jane’s Walks Digital Archive and Happy City’s main website, as time allows. The Coordinator will also be involved in the planning and development of events related to St. John’s Votes 2025 and the 2025 Jane’s Walks over the summer. They will also be responsible for occasional administrative duties related to the organization’s operations.
Project Location
St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This role will be Work-from-Home.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop a new WordPress website for St. John’s Votes 2025
- Design and develop website on the WordPress platform
- Collect, organize, and input related data
- Begin development of a Digital Archive for Jane’s Walks
- Begin development of a mini-site on the WordPress platform to create a collection of Jane’s Walks from the past into the future
- Assist in planning and preparation of events related to the 2025 Municipal Election (ie. Candidate Forums)and the 2025 Jane’s Walks series
- Particular emphasis will be on promotion of these events through social and traditional media.
- Represent Happy City to the community.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with web design and editing through WordPress
- Experience with social media communications
- Familiarity with basic graphic design (e.g. through Canva)
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Highly adaptable to evolving priorities and projects
Assets
- Strong interest in local issues and community development
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Interest in digital communications and/or marketing
Please note that this position is funded by Service Canada and candidates must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Rate of Pay
$16.00/hour
