June 9: Building Better Streets: Enhancing walkability and mobility for all
St. John’s can be a walker’s paradise, however we’ve ceded most of the land to cars. Join Myles Russell of partner organization Streets are for People as we explore the hidden hazards and triumphs of urban mobility, from the perils pedestrians face in noisy, traffic-laden streets to the dynamics of walking, cycling, and driving. Discover the challenges and solutions in our shared-use paths, sidewalk maintenance, and transit systems, including fascinating insights into transit graveyards and connectivity issues.
The walk starts at 11:00 on Sunday, June 9th and will begin and end at Churchill Square. The meeting point for this walk is the bench next to the Elizabeth Avenue entrance to the Churchill Square parking lot.
