Happy City’s 2022 Annual General Meeting

Happy City St. John’s is excited to announce that we will be holding our Annual General Meeting on September 14th, 2022 at 7 PM! This will be a hybrid event, so you may join us in person (for the first time since 2019!) at the BIS at 30 Harvey Road or online through Zoom.

We’ll be doing a few things at this AGM:

Reflecting on our work at Happy City over the past year

We’ll look back on the events we’ve held and initiatives we’ve worked on in 2022, what we did well, and what challenges we faced.

Electing new directors to our board

We’ll be voting for six board members to serve two-year terms. If you’re passionate about civic engagement and making your city a better place, consider self-nominating! More details about running for election to the board can be found here.

Discussing our future goals as an organization

This is your opportunity to tell us what you would like to see us doing over this coming year. It’s also an opportunity to talk more broadly about changes you want to see in our city with other members of your community, and about what Happy City can do to work towards bringing those changes about.

Admission is free, the venue is fully accessible, and light refreshments will be served. Register for the event here. See you there!

2022 Board of Directors Elections

Happy City St. John’s is a non-profit which seeks to encourage, inform and facilitate civic dialogue in our city. We are looking for self-nominations to fill 6 board member positions, to be voted on at our 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 14th.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Board members are a key part of shaping and executing the work of Happy City St. John’s. They serve a two-year term and meet monthly, with additional committee meetings to plan for and implement events and campaigns.

Members of the Board are encouraged to bring forward ambitious ideas for Happy City projects, and are given the opportunity to work with our energetic team to bring those ideas to fruition.

Board members are expected to attend at least 50% of board meetings, unless accommodations are agreed upon by the Chair. Meetings take place online.

Happy City St. John’s has an active volunteer board, and members should expect to spend at least 10-15 hours per month on Happy City duties.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

We are seeking board members with diverse experiences who have a passion for making their community a better place. All levels and kinds of expertise and lived experiences are welcome.

Happy City St. John’s is committed to fulfilling its mission while embracing equity and diversity. We believe that all citizens’ experiences must be at the centre of the work we do and hence strongly encourage nominations from people from diverse backgrounds and different lived experiences to self-nominate.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
