Urbanist Event Rundown

Thanks to a few snow delays, there’s a wealth of things going on for city-minded people in St. John’s on Tuesday the 16th. Here’s a rundown:

At 5:30 PM Happy City is hosting our first iteration of what will be a monthly Happy City Hour – an informal gathering of people interested in the city and its future. No agendas or formal structure, just a chance to chat. This month’s Happy City Hour will be at the venerable Georgetown Pub on Hayward Avenue – we’ll be moving to a different neighbourhood spot each month.

At 7 PM, Councilor Dave Lane is hosting a meet-your-councilor Q&A session at Common Ground at Harvey Road, partly facilitated by Happy City’s Josh Smee.

Also at 7 PM, the folks at the Georgestown Neighbourhood Association are hosting “ Celebrating The Basilica: An interactive presentation”, sponsored with Susan Chalker-Browne author of her new book “The Story of the Basilica St. John the Baptist” and Basilica historian Anne Walsh. That’s at The Lantern on Barnes Road.

Also at 7 PM, the NL Historic Trust is hosting a Ward 4 Heritage Forum with the by-election candidates, moderated by Shannie Duff. It’s in the MMap Room at the Arts and Culture Centre.

See you there, Happy Citizens!
