About Happy City

"Happy City" is a loosely-knit group of citizens that has emerged as a response to the rapidly increasing rate of growth and development in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Its tagline, "Making the City Make Sense" reflects the organization's mandate to "inform and encourage the discussion surrounding development and growth in St. John's."

St. John's is growing rapidly, and it can be difficult for the average citizen to keep track of all the important changes that will affect his or her life. This can lead to decisions being made that do not include the informed views of all stake holders, which in turn can lead to contention and controversy.

Happy City will strive to improve this situation by providing a venue for accessible, readable information about, and explanations of municipal issues, as well as a forum for citizens to debate the potential solutions to the challenges we face.

Happy City is unique to St. John's because it will actively engage the public using multiple forms of media, primarily centered around a web site and social networking tools. The group will solicit facts and opinions from public figures, business leaders, and activists to create relevant content.

Our objective is not to change the City, but rather to help ensure that it changes in a way that considers the informed views of all citizens.

Please connect with us and help us grow.
