Happy City, Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, Cities for
People, GoBus Accessible Transit and Metrobus are pleased to
partner in presenting the first annual BusFest St. John's!
On June 19th, join us in celebrating public transit in the
city and engage with us on how to make transportation even better.
We'll be encouraging everyone who can to leave their cars at home
for the day, take the bus, and tell the city about their
experiences - Tweet us @HappyCitySJ with the hashtag #BusFestSJ and
tell us what your experience is on the bus on June
It won't be just an ordinary day, either - BusFest will be
making your ride a bit more special. To kick of the day, free
coffee and snacks will be served from 7-9am at the major
transfer points: the Avalon Mall, the Village Mall, and Memorial's
University Centre as well as the GoBus Office (where they'll be
loaded onto the GoBus vehicles for the morning).
Come grab a cup during your morning commute and listen to some
great performances by musicians, poets, and theatre folk! Can't get
enough of that art? There will also be performances on the buses
that morning too, so take out those earbuds and listen to the
soulful stylings of some of St. John's most talented!
We are also excited to announce that for the day of BusFest, a
chartered bus from the Bell Island Ferry will have a free,
transfer-included, express route right to the MUN UC (with a few
stops along the way, Portugal Cove Rd. and the Confederation
Building among them). Passengers coming in on the morning ferry
runs from the Island have four options Island-side that will meet
up with the Shuttle: 6:50, 7:20, 7:50 and 8:20, with an arrival at
The UC just inside of an hour to continue your commute. We won't
leave you stranded either, with four return options lined up from
The UC back towards the Ferry for your trip home at 3:50, 4:20,
5:10 and 5:50, you'll get home in plenty of time for supper.
And the fun doesn't stop there! On the eve of June 18th,
the day before BusFest, join us at O'Reilly's
from 7-9pm for a pint and meet some of the folks who
spend their time getting you from point A to B. We'll have a casual
discussion about public transit as well as maps where you can draw
your fantasy bus route.
So come and celebrate BusFest with us! Let's see how we can make
public transit a bigger part of our day-to-day.
