Your City, Your Community

March 26 PosterHow can we as a community of individuals, organizations, businesses and politicians shape the future of St. John's together?

That's the question Happy City asked on April 2 at the Masonic Temple.

Here's the description we used to promote the event:

We'll discuss what groups are working to make St. John's a better place and how they can pull in the same direction to meet their goals.

Facilitated by Bui Petersen from the Centre for Negotiation and Dialogue, the session will use a novel approach to a public meeting. Participants will break into small groups to discuss three questions:

  1. How do citizens and decision-makers connect?
  2. How can decisions best reflect the needs of the community?
  3. How can we, as a community of individuals, organizations, businesses and politicians, shape the future of St. John's together?

We will also take time to brain storm a large list of the community groups that are already doing work in St. John's. We will work together to find common connections between these groups and begin to see how some might work together to "pull in the same direction" on issues that are important to them.

Interesting approach to design and active living in Barcelona! twitter.com/eatingpolitics…
